Improvise - DayShell [Single Review]

DayShell’s Improvised One

3 years after their debut EP, DayShell is finally come back with their single, Improvise,  prepared for their upcoming album that will be released on October. On July 6th, DayShell has officially signed with Spinefarm Records and released Carsick, in which the song will be featured in their second full-length album.

Through Carsick and Improvise, it seems like they want to build a new image- a brand new DayShell again. After parted ways with Sumerian Records, i sense that their music color has slowly change to be more classic and soft- in which, i think is a good proposition.

Most bands’ problem in creating album is that very few of them aware of elements that keep their music alive, either it’s the lyric, the guitar trick or even the vocal filter they use. But DayShell, instead of falling apart, they seem to keep ‘keeping up’. Since Share With Me, i always have a thought that they are the most consistent band i’ve known so far, though it’s been three years since their first album. Their lyric, music and vocals are equally outstanding.

As for Carsick and Improvise, even though they do sound lighter than any other songs in the previous album, Shayley Bourget’s soaring clean vocals never disappoint anyone who hears it. Not to mention Zack’s drum sequences and bass trick by Jordan. You could say that DayShell found their “center” on this album. The band’s second full-length album and first for Spinefarm Records represents the culmination of a delicate evolutionary process for them and is really worth a wait- and a listen, of course!
